Rules for life.
Move every day. Walk whenever you can. Lift something heavy. Spend time outside. Protect your sleep. Protect your health before you have to recover it. Eat well most of the time. Breathe deeply. Stand up straight. Take care of your body. It's carrying you through your entire life. Care deeply. Love your people well. Tell them you love them. Listen without waiting to speak. Ask good questions. Stay curious. Read books. Change your mind when you're wrong. Keep learning. Never let your ego become more important than the truth. Show up. Especially when you don't feel like it. Discipline will carry you where motivation never can. Do difficult things on purpose. They make ordinary life feel easier. Be patient. The best things take time. Don't rush seasons that are meant to shape you. Focus on what you can control. Let go of what you can't. Worry rarely changes tomorrow. It nearly always steals today. Find work that matters. Better still, become someone who makes other people matter. Build community. Share meals. Laugh often. Be generous with your time. Be careful with your attention. Most things competing for it haven't earned it. Put your phone down. Watch the sunset. Sit in silence. Learn to enjoy your own company. Apologise quickly. Forgive slowly if you must, but forgive. Hold your standards high and your judgement lightly. Everyone is carrying something you cannot see. Celebrate other people's success. Comparison is a game nobody wins. Spend less time proving yourself and more time becoming yourself. Travel when you can. Learn people's stories. Say yes to adventures. Say no without guilt. Keep your promises. Keep your integrity. Your reputation is built in the moments nobody else sees. Don't wait for confidence. Action usually comes first. Confidence follows afterwards. Fall off the path. Get back on the path. Repeat as many times as necessary. Life isn't asking for perfection. It's asking whether you'll begin again. Rest when you're tired. Ask for help before you desperately need it. Give help without keeping score. Remember that success means very little if the people you love don't recognise the person you've become. Life is shorter than you think. Longer than it feels. Nobody knows how the story ends. Keep showing up. Keep moving. Keep becoming.
Big love
Chris
